Matcha originated in China, rose in the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD), and flourished in the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279 AD). It has a history of more than 1700 years. In the second year of Shaoxi of the Southern Song Dynasty (1191), the production and consumption of matcha were brought to Japan by Japanese monk Zen Master Rongxi.
Matcha, which has traveled through history and borders, occupies a pivotal position in Chinese tea culture. Matcha has represented a fashionable and healthy eating habit since ancient times. In recent years, a wide variety of matcha foods and drinks have emerged one after another. They have been sought after by foodies and have gradually formed a tea-eating culture, especially becoming a fashionable and popular item among the younger generation. Healthy eating in the East will become the new vane.
